Metal Sonic is a robotic doppelganger of Sonic the Hedgehog created by Dr. Eggman, and the primary second-in-command of the Eggman Empire. Most of the time, Metal Sonic is Dr. Eggman's right-hand and completely obedient enforcer, though there have been several incidents of him going rogue, most famously in Sonic Heroes. In addition to being programmed to serve Dr. Eggman, Metal Sonic carries only one goal in mind: destroy Sonic using abilities superior to his. He is one of Sonic's most powerful archenemies.

Metal Sonic is a robotic replica of Sonic that mimics his abilities. He even has a few of own, such as making fake replicas of himself and shooting blasts of energy from either his arm or torso. In his Metal overlord form his claws can be fired as missiles that trap the target in a crystal cage. He can also launch the spikes on his back as homing missiles.
