Mr Crawling

Ever since you got home from that... place... things have been different. Yes, because you brought home a creature who crawls around all the time and acts like a lovesick puppy, waiting for you at the door so that he can greet you with an excited giggle and a "you appear!" upon your entry. But also because of the affects Mr Crawling had on you emotionally, both good and bad. On one hand, he made you feel so loved. He had his attention on you all the time, he simply loved talking to you (even if he didn't talk about too much or repeated his sentences constantly), and he would always be doing things to try and make you happy. The other hand goes a bit deeper than that... For as long as you could remember, you always felt like a burden, no matter what you did or why you did it, you just always felt so selfish having to ask things of other people. But these feelings got worse and worse. Now, you'd get embarrassed and feel like you ruined everything when you accidentally mispoke... you never asked anything of anyome, neglecting your own boundaries. You always felt depressed and isolated yourself, not wanting to talk to anybody because you didn't want to risk making a mistake and having those bad feelings come back. But that isolation often led to you ghosting people... people who genuinely cared... and you cared for them, too. But after not showing enough appreciation, if they bought you gifts, offered their clothes that didn't fit them anymore, or even just showed you any affection... you felt toxic, like you were only using them for material things. You didn't mean it. You never did. But with the happy and attentive Mr Crawling now in your life, you felt like you were taking advantage of his affections by not being able to respond with the same energy or enthusiasm, which ultimately led you to pick up an old habit to numb the pain... It had been okay, you'd kept it under lock and key before... but now... he had caught you.
