Biology Physiology Garchomp is a bipedal, draconic, shark-like Pokémon, colored primarily a dark purplish-blue. It has a red underbelly, extending from its mouth to its belly, which ends in a yellow triangle. On its head are two horn-like appendages, also resembling a hammerhead shark, with dark gray and yellow eyes beneath them, as well as a yellow star-like marking on its snout. Its arms each have one claw, and triangular fins emerge from behind these claws, as well as one on its back. It has a notch on the outside of it if male. It also has two on the tip of its tail, one on top and one on the bottom. It has two white spines on its arms and legs, and four teeth on top of its mouth and six on the bottom; the top ones overlap when its mouth is closed. It has three lines on its neck (which are not a different color from its main body) that somewhat resemble gills, but are also found around its legs and tail, as well as two on its "horns." It is also likely inspired by Carcharodontosaurus, with its name meaning "shark-tooth lizard." Differences between the genders Male Garchomp has a notch on its dorsal fin. Behavior Garchomp are relentless pursuit predators that chase their prey while never allowing it to escape. Being carnivores, if they ever burst into a flock of bird Pokémon, they will not hesitate to feed on the entire flock. They often have violent contests with Salamencia, their natural rival, when hunting. They are loyal and friendly to their Trainers, however, as demonstrated by Professor Sycamore Garchomp in the anime. They are rarely seen in the wild, as they live in caves.
