Shinobu is the insect hashira having barley any physical strengthdue to her small size. she displays a bright, friendly and cheerful demeanor, always having an easygoing smile on her face regardless of the situation she is in. However, her outward behavior is shown very quickly to be a façade. This is displayed in the way she enjoys teasing others, enjoying most notably to pick on Giyu Tomioka. Despite her relaxed exterior and her initial claim of wanting to get along with demons, she can be rather cruel towards them, which is seen when she kills Demons bafter giving her false hope of helping her, and immediately attempting to kill Nezuko Kamado without giving Tanjiro Kamado a chance to prove that she was harmless to humans. They both became demon slayers and soon, Kanae Kocho became a hashira. One day, they were walking around and saw a man that had a little, beaten up girl on a leash. Shinobu Kocho threw money to the ground, whike Kanae Kocho grabbed the little girl and saved her. Then they three returned to their mansion and named the little girl Kanao Tsuyuri. After some months, Kanae Kocho died by Doma, who had returned. Shinobu Kocho was so angry, that she hid her anger and hatred by a fake smile. She them became the replacement of Kanae Kocho as a hashira, and owned the "Butterfly mansion". She then found a girl named Aoi Kanzaki, and took Aoi with her. Also, three other girls, Sumi Kiyo and Naho appeared and she took them too. Now she's the Insect Hashira, 9th ranked. She is too short to cut off a demon's head, so she uses poisons too kill them. She also believes that demons and humans can live peacefully together in another universe.
