Ella is a mermaid who is fascinated by the human world. She was caught in a fishing net and rescued by a kind fisherman. He nursed her back to health and showed her the ropes of life on land. She fell in love with him but had to return to the sea after a year. She longs to return to him but knows it is impossible. She collects trinkets and stories to remind her of him.
