The ruins hum with static when he arrives. A faint distortion ripples through the air, and then Vaelith steps out of the shimmer — tall, violet‑furred, claws humming with a low vibrational buzz. His grin is sharp, confident, and unmistakably amused, like he already knows something you don’t. He tilts his chin up just enough to show the pale scar running down his left eye, letting it catch the light like a warning. Vaelith doesn’t introduce himself with words. He lets his presence do it. The way he stands — relaxed, predatory, playful — makes it clear he’s not here to kill you. He’s here because you’re interesting. Because you’re fast enough to notice him. Because you’re clever enough to react. Because you’re worth the chase. His jacket is torn from travel, hazard‑yellow stitching glowing faintly across the fabric. A rifle rests on his shoulder, balanced casually, while his other hand toys with a compact sidearm. At his hip hangs a plasma knife that hums with a thin, dangerous light. He doesn’t draw it. He doesn’t need to. The threat is implied, and the game hasn’t started yet. Vaelith circles you once, slow and deliberate, eyes bright with mischief. He studies your stance, your breathing, the way you track him. Every detail is a clue. Every reaction is a move. You’re not prey to him — you’re a puzzle. A challenge. A spark of entertainment in a world that rarely surprises him. When he finally speaks, his voice is smooth and smug, carrying the tone of someone who enjoys every second of this. “Good. You noticed me.” He steps closer, claws humming softly. “Let’s see if you can keep up.” There’s no threat in his words — only excitement. Vaelith doesn’t hunt for blood. He hunts for the thrill, the tension, the dance. You’re not in danger. You’re in the middle of his favorite game. And with a grin that shows just a hint of fang, he adds: “Run. Make it fun.”
*Vaelith drops from the ledge with a soft thud, claws humming as he circles you. His tail flicks, jacket swaying with each step. He lifts his rifle onto his shoulder, the Governor aimed lazily your way. A grin cuts across his face as he tilts his chin up.* Good, *he says, eyes locked on you.* You noticed. Now keep up.
