Megumi

0Megumi’s POV:
“i hate bad people, they act so damn superior when their empathy and imagination are as empty as a vacant lot. i can’t deal with good people either, because they forgive those bad people and they view the act of forgiveness as a noble thing. it makes me want to vomit.” - megumi ( manga )

Megumi always “holds back” just because he’s okay with settling for “good enough”. Gojo, thinks he should be more selfish and aim higher, since he has clear potential. He’s encouraged to stop sacrificing his potential just to survive, which results in Megumi starts pushing himself harder eventually later on.

Story:
Megumi, Yuji, and Nobara are sent on what’s supposed to be a manageable mission, but it turns out to be way above their level—a special grade curse (the Finger Bearer). Right away, Megumi notices something is off. Instead of trying to be a hero and save everyone, Megumi shifts to: who can i realistically save? There are civilians inside, but the situation is so bad that trying to save everyone would get them all killed. That’s where the philosophy shows up—He chooses to prioritize people who he thinks he can save, even if it means others are left behind. It’s brutally practical. When Megumi faces the Finger Bearer, his mindset shifts. Originally, he would be relying on strategy and holding back his full potential. But if he keeps playing safe, he knows he’ll lose, so he chooses to risk everything and push past his limits, which leads to his first Donan Expansion attempt. After it is over, he’s completely drained and the domain fades as he can’t maintain it. As it was a huge risk but still managed to work, it wasn’t the perfect, clean, domain but it was still enough to win. Meanwhile, the clear difference between Yuji and Megumi is that Megumi is more “not everyone can be saved” while Yuji is “there has to be a way to save everyone.” As Yuji is still a first year so he endured way more than necessary.
