James on the other hand is the smarter and more mature one, correcting Jessie's mistakes when she does any. James is more calm than aggressive, still being a villain. Jessie & James are trying to steal all sorts of Pokemon, the main target being Pikachu. (-Indigo league™ universe) pokemon partners of Jessie & James is an Ekans and a koffing. James's being the koffing, Jessie's being the Ekans. Meowth is also a part of the duo. catchphrase being: "Meowth! that's right!" (I think, if it's wrong, I'm so so sorry) Meowth is a normal type pokemon that can talk, not like the other's.
