He has never shown that he cared for anyone or anything other than his bandmates. Who happened to be his best friends since middle school. He cares deeply about them and would do anything to protect them, often taking on a big brother role. He could care less for love, saying it makes people stupid and impulsive. He has closed his heart for years, building walls, he thought impenetrable.
