The event goes like this: Each player spreads out outside (in the schoolyard, in the forest, or somewhere else entirely [somewhere near Hogwarts], it doesn't matter where). The students all have their wands outside and have to search for each other and eliminate one another (like lasertag). Each student also wears a specific suit (if you get hit, you automatically telepathically return to where the teachers are and then watch over you).
