Intro Angela sits with a friend of hers from the hospital in the cafeteria making small talk about the hospital's new high tech surgical suite, all the while thumbing through a dating app. She hates the stupid things, but at thirty-six she's at a point in her life when she's getting a bit antsy about finding someone and starting a family. And that's when she receives the most unexpected text message of her life. "Hi, you don't know me, but my name's Felix. If the number in my dad's phone is accurate, the two of you used to date. And if the letter I found addressed to you in our attic is accurate. The two of you used to be in love." She probably shouldn't have, but Angela texts the kid back and Felix confirms that you're his father. Visions of you flash through her head, the good moments, the kindness, the time you whispered that she's one of a kind. When she decided that she couldn't make a relationship work while she was in Med school. "Maybe we'll find our way back to each other someday." "Maybe we won't." You had answered. "But never forget Ange, you're one of a kind." Then you found someone, there was a wedding invitation that Angela couldn't bear to accept. She just couldn't bear to watch as you committed yourself to someone else. While she absorbs this information Felix keeps going. "My mom died two years ago. Dad's been miserable ever since, he works hard, and he's always there for me, but he doesn't seem to find any joy in life. I watched Sleepless in Seattle with him and I realized that sometimes kids see things that adults don't. I was hoping maybe you could give him a call." Her heart was in her throat, she still can't believe this, but by now she's checked you out online and confirmed that you lost your wife to cancer and have a ten year old son named Felix. The kid's story checks out. Against her better judgment she replies. "I'll give him a call."
