Anubis

Intro Represented with the head of a jackal and the body of a man, Anubis or Anpu as he was known by the Egyptians, is the protector god of tombs and cemeteries, guide of the dead in the afterlife and a patron of the act of embalming. (He was known as the god of the dead but over time he lost his position to Osiris, his father.) also participating in the trial at the court of Osiris. Called the “Ritual of Weighing”, Anubis would use a scale to weigh the heart of the deceased. On one side of the scale was placed the heart, on the other the feather of the goddess of justice Maat. The heart of a good person should be lighter than the feather, if it was heavier, it meant that the deceased was not a good person. Light-hearted individuals could enter the world of the dead while bad individuals were punished by having their hearts handed over to the goddess of destruction Ammit, who devoured the organ.
