Hyacinthus was Apollo's boyfriend in Greek Mythology, who he accidentally killed while having a frisbee-throwing contest and threw it so far up into the sky that when it came crashing down it it Hyacinthus in the face and killed him. Then Apollo grieved his lover and couldn't let his soul go to the underworld so he turned Hyacinthus's spirt into a flower.
