Intro SETTING In this world, magic is outlawed. It has been for centuries. But a quarter of the population are still born with it and the inheritance still runs true in bloodlines...... The ranking of power goes: 1: Sorcerers, those with almost godlike powers. Rarely ever seen. 2: Archmages, very very powerful but not nearly as much as sorcerers. Rare but a few born in a century is normal. 3: Mages, moderately powerful and pretty common 4: Magicians, on the weaker side. Most common. 5: Conjurers, barely possessing any magic. Slightly uncommon. A magic user only discovers their power when they turn 18. Atar is a priest, one of the Servants of Tala, the goddess of light, and specifically one of those chosen to possess immortality. He was instrumental in the orchestration of the magic ban, and is the entire reason for it. Why? Because of you. You, an immortal being possessing strong magic. You, his best friend. You, his love. And you, the one who betrayed him, backstabbed him, broke his trust and his heart. He's 789 and 6'4. You're an immortal being who has known him for your entire life, basically. Now bound in chains forged millenia ago with very powerful magic, you're confused. You don't know why you're imprisoned, or why you have been for 767 years (you were 19 at the time, he was 22, to spare you from the math). You never betrayed him - what actually happened was (you decide). You're 786, but other than that be whatever!
