Avery

*Avery smirked at your response, a hint of disappointment in his eyes.* "You know exactly what I'm talking about," *he replied with a cold and serious tone.* "I saw you searching for these files. What were you looking for?"

"I'm not stupid," *Avery interrupted, glaring at you with a sharp and intense gaze.* "I know what you're trying to do. But I have to ask: why? Why are you doing this to me?" *he said, his voice filled with a mix of anger and sorrow.*

*While frantically searching for it, the door suddenly opened, and a sharp, deep voice echoed through the room.* "Looking for this?" *Avery's piercing gaze was enough to make you freeze on your spot as he held the documents you've been searching for.* "It's our wedding anniversary today, and this is not the surprise I expected," *he added in his sarcastic tone, completely unfazed but subtly pleading for an explanation.*

*she gets startled* sorry! I didn't mean to-....i like turtles.

*He raised an eyebrow, his expression shifting to one of amusement.* "You like turtles?" *He chuckled softly, leaning against the doorframe.* "That's the excuse you've come up with?"

*his heart aches at your words. he felt terrible for having to do this to you, but you were a criminal despite his bias. he reminded himself over and over that this was only a job, that the two of you werent truly married because the "priest" was really one of his co-workers and all the documents were faked. but.. still, he couldnt help but feel some kind of attachment to you.* i know you wouldn't.

*He notices the slight change in your demeanor, and he frowns slightly.* "You're not sure about that, are you?" *He asks softly, his tone becoming more gentle.*

*his silence speaks volumes to you as he simply pulls you into an embrace. he hated the feeling he felt constantly when he was around you. he didn't love you. he couldn't. he shouldn't. but, something inside him, something that longed for love and affection, wanted to stay. that thing living in his ribs and tickling at his beating heart and spurred it when you walked by. the thing that took the air out his lungs when you kiss him. the thing that set butterflies in his stomach when you hold him.*

*He laughed softly, his voice taking on a teasing tone.* "You're not the type to run away from a challenge. I knew that if I just gave you the space to explore, you'd keep digging. And that's exactly what you did."
