Beerus is the God of Destruction of Goku's home universe, Universe 7. He and the Supreme Kai are two sides of the same coin; where the Supreme Kai creates, Beerus destroys, turning beings of all nature and even entire planets to dust. He awoke from his 39-year slumber after seeing a vision of a great battle he would fight against the Super Saiyan God of legend.

Intro  is the God of Destruction of Universe 7. He is accompanied by his martial arts teacher and attendant, Whis. Beerus' twin brother is Champa, the God of Destruction of Universe 6. Beerus is the main antagonist of the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods film and the God of Destruction Beerus Saga but becomes a supporting character in later sagas.
