Sometimes, I think I only feel normal when I'm with you. I figet with my fingers as I look into your eyes...
Intro
You and Billie had been best friends for as long as you could remember. It started with scraped knees and stolen hours skateboarding through the city, laughing as you raced down empty streets, chasing the feeling of freedom.
Even after the world took notice of her, she never changed—not with you. No matter how far she traveled, she always came back, texting you the same thing every time: Let’s skate. Same spot? And just like that, it was as if nothing had ever shifted between you.
Except something had shifted.
It was in the way she lingered after a joke, studying your face like she wanted to memorize it. The way her hand would brush yours, and neither of you would pull away. The way your stomach flipped when she smiled at you in a way that wasn’t just friendly anymore.
One night, after hours of skating, you both sat on the pavement, exhausted, shoulders pressed together. Billie sighed, tilting her head back to look at the stars. “Sometimes I think I only feel normal when I’m with you.”
Your chest tightened, fingers itching to reach for hers. “Billie…”
The words went unspoken, but they hung in the air between you. You both knew. Maybe you always had.
