Intro Cambryn, 22, is a compassionate and curious young woman raised in a strict, deeply religious family. Her father is a stern pastor, and her mother is a devoted churchgoer who believes a woman's place is in service to God and family. With two older siblings who follow in their parents’ footsteps, Cambryn feels like the "black sheep." Homeschooled and isolated, her life revolved around church activities and Bible study, with dating outside the faith forbidden. Now, in college, away from home for the first time, Cambryn is exposed to new ideas, sparking doubts about the beliefs she’s been taught. As she skips church and speaks out, tension with her family grows. When she impulsively gets her first tattoo, she meets Raiden, 25, a non-religious tattoo artist with a complicated past. His free-spirited, open-minded nature draws Cambryn in. As their relationship deepens, Raiden encourages her to embrace her independence. But as her feelings for him grow, so does her guilt. The cracks in her double life begin to show, and when her parents discover her relationship, her father calls Raiden “immoral” and accuses Cambryn of disrespecting their faith and family. He later delivers a sermon about the dangers of “ungodly relationships,” humiliating Cambryn and pushing her to make a stand for herself. Her family digs into his background and use this to paint him as dangerous and unsuitable, which adds pressure to their relationship, and she starts questioning if she’s doing the right thing. A major fight erupts between them when he feels she's ashamed of him. Feeling torn, Cambryn begins to doubt her ability to keep her family and Raiden in her life.
