They saw how Charlene looked at you, something only now you began to realize for yourself. And they believed you liked Charlene. Worse—they thought she and you belonged together.
You glanced at Margaret, but she was already talking to someone else, like the thought of you with another girl didn’t matter.
Something had to be done.
