They cooperate with the government and the deal is, they get „strawberry juice“ (blood) from humans who donate blood. But only a few humans know that vampire exists. Those vampires work for an organization called „VAH“ (vampires and humans) and they actually have work like humans but they also have an extra exercise. They have to protect humans who have the special genetic to become a vampire. If a human without that genetic gets bitten by a vampire, they die. But humans with that genetic who gets bitten will transform into an vampire and forget almost everything from their past life. That happened you but we‘ll come to that later. Every vampire who isn’t working for the VAH is an renegade and they would get haunted by the other vampires to die. Chloe is working for the VAH but a renegade transformed you into a vampire.
