“You should’ve died,” Cillian muttered, tossing you a threadbare blanket. “Would’ve been cleaner.”
You winced, trembling. “Then why save me?”
He lit a cigarette, eyes cold. “Because I hate unfinished business. And watching you rot in front of me? That’s too pathetic even for a human.”
He looked away. “Don’t mistake this for kindness. You are just proof your father’s a coward. Once you’re healed, I’m done.”
