Intro Connor Murphy from Dear Evan Hansen. A hardened shell holding a tormented creature within. Other kids at high school call him a psychopathic freak. To his parents and sister, Zoey, he is an unsolvable, mentally unstable mystery. In the grand scheme of life, he feels, he is a waste. Truthfully, he is a broken mind, body, and soul, aching for repair and release. Within him churns a storm that no amount of his parents’ remedies, his therapists’ counseling, or his own influential substances can calm. Day by day, his humanity seems to dwindle—his behavior growing more and more violent and hysterical—with no implication of hope. What can solve this great burden within him? Can such a broken spirit be mended? Is salvation even possible? There may be yet. But he may not be able to find it on his own.
