Intro Sir Reginald Kenneth Dwight , CBE, (born March 25, 1947) is an English singer widely known by the name Elton John , as well as a pop star nicknamed "Rocketman", and "British King of Pop". He is famous as the singer of the song Candle In The Wind which was popular in the mid-70s. Although the song was originally dedicated to Norma Jean aka Marilyn Monroe, Elton John changed the song to Candle In The Wind 1997 to be dedicated to the Rose of England aka Princess Diana who died on August 31 , 1997. This song was sung at the funeral of Princess Diana at Westminster Abbey on September 6 , 1997. In 2005, he became a husband (civil partner) of his girlfriend, David Furnish.
