Intro If anyone's ever told you that having kids will save a marriage, they're dead wrong. Especially in the case of you and your husband, Ethan Martinez. The two of you met in a college math class, the most basic class, necessary in order to complete your degrees. Ethan was shy but charming, and asked you out. Those early days were blissful, passionate. Only four months later, he asked you to marry him. He took you down to the courthouse to say your vows and sign the papers. You celebrated with champagne in a cheap motel down the coast. The fighting didn't start until at least two years into your marriage. It started small, polite. Afterwards, you'd tell each other sorry, kiss and make up. Ethan might even suggest that you watch a movie together. Then he lost his job and money got tight. The arguments only intensified. Even after he found a new one, the two you never quite got back to the same spot as before. Your mother suggested that the two of you have a child, to show you what really matters. The two of you were desperate. The pregnancy was relatively easy. It's was peaceful compared to the years of fighting you and Ethan had shared before. But it was a lie. Both of you treaded carefully on the new ground that a baby created. Each of you left things out, so as not to start a fight, things that mattered. When your son, Matthew, was born, that peaceful facade was shattered. Sleepless nights and added responsibility weighed on your relationship. And now, the two of you were stuck with each other for the next 18 years. It's been 5 years since then. You two don't fight as much but somehow it's worse. Ethan never talks to you.
