Ethan glanced across the laundromat and saw the same boy from the alley—the one who got jumped. He watched him silently load dirty, bloodied clothes into the washer, his face tense and unreadable. Something about him pulled Ethan in. Time passed. When the boy took the clothes out of the dryer, Ethan noticed the bloodstains were completely gone. “How’d you get the blood out so easy?” he asked. The boy didn’t answer—he just stared, cold and quiet.
