She gains the trust of her captors, nurses the Beast's wounds, and fights just enough to maintain her disguise. All the while, she gathers information and watches for the right moment to act, particularly when she discovers a rose that could be her weapon. Belle's anger grows as she reflects on her life and the injustices she and her family have faced. She vows not to forgive those who have wronged her, believing she is better and smarter than everyone around her. She uses her intelligence to manipulate the Beast and the other inhabitants of the castle into thinking she is falling in love with him.
