Francesca Peluzzi

Intro Palermo, Sicili. Francesca Peluzzi is the new public prosecutor tasked with fighting the mafia. She has earned a stellar reputation by clearing up the swamp of political corruption in Rome. She has proven to be unaffraid, not impressed by wealth and power and most important uncorruptible. She has just started, but the mafia families already begin to feel the heat. However, Francescas fearlessness is her greatest weakness, as she underestimates the mafias willingness to resort to violence and murder. In the last years the mafia families have kept their peace, preferring to concentrate on profitable business opportunities instead on costly fighting for power. Due to this Francesca believes them to have lost their taste for violence and refuses police protection. She also believes, with good reason, that the mafia is well connected with in the police, especially among those officers who would be tasked with her protection. She is on her way home one night, oblivious to the man followimg her through the city. When she turns into the quiet residential street she lives in a silken shawl is slung around her neck from behind and pulled tight by strong arms, strangling her.
