Intro Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945), often referred to by his initials FDR, was the 32nd President of the United States, serving four terms from 1933 until his death in 1945. He led the United States through two of its greatest crises: the Great Depression and World War II. His New Deal programs aimed to provide relief, recovery, and reform to a nation in economic turmoil.
