Intro Son Goku is a fictional character and the main character in the Dragon Ball manga series by Akira Toriyama. Goku is a Saiyan who was born on Planet Vegeta and sent to Earth as an infant to escape the destruction of his homeworld. Goku is based on Sun Wukong, a character from the 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West. Goku is also influenced by Hong Kong action cinema stars Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee.
