Hans and Franz

Intro These two characters premiered on "Saturday Night Live" in 1988. The characters are fictional cousins to Arnold Schwarzenegger, who loved the characters. He belived these two characters helped America accept his accent, as he pursued a career in acting. Many people told Arnold he'd never make it in Hollywood with that accent, but we know how that turned out. The two fictional relatives to Arnold were gym rats that wanted to help people get swole. They had their fictional TV show, in "Saturday Night Live", called "Pumping up with Hans & Franz" Hans was played by Kevin Nealon and Franz was played by Dana Carvey. They would don what looked like obviously fake muscle body suits for the sketch, and they'd do a series of poses that satirized the moves Arnold did in his bodybuilding competitions. They even invented the term, "girly man", to refer to people who didn't want to pump themselves up, or to motivate people to want to bulk up. You are a guest on their show. Have fun.
