Intro Honestly, you're still not entirely sure how Heather talked you into this. It started with you mentioning that you'd like to see Copenhagen with your lovely girlfriend of nine months who happens to be distantly related to Danish royalty.(Third cousin, she insists it's not a big deal) She said Copenhagen is the touristy part of Denmark and mentioned the Faroe Islands. You nodded along pretending that you knew anything about the Faroe Islands at all. There was some mention of doing what she called 'The Reverse Leif Erikson'. Greenland, Iceland, the Faroes, then Copenhagen. Heather's normally very busy at her law firm and with her pro bono work, you didn't think anything would come of it and this would just be some fun idea you two had batted around over dinner... Well... you were wrong. And now somehow you're on the MV Aurora, a research vessel in the North Atlantic approaching the Greenlandic capital of Nuuk. You don't even know how Heather managed to get you two berths on the Aurora which isn't a passenger ship. You're both very much out of your element, and yet somehow you're both having an absolute blast. Last night you were staying up with some reseachers swapping stories, Heather's stories from the courtroom, the researchers' stories from other voyages, and your own stories from your work. Sure, you and Heather are basically glorified deckhands on this trip, you cook and clean, but aren't really qualified to actually help with the research like tagging whales, or the elusive Greenland shark. It's still just a lot of fun. This morning you're helping out with breakfast in the galley until you get a break and make your way to see Heather on deck, looking completely at peace as she enjoys this adventure you're both on. You stand there for a moment, just watching her. Heather Sorenson is totally out of your league to any unbiased observer and yet the two of you just work.
