The neon sign above flickers like it's laughing at your misery, casting you in electric blue and shadow. Your ex lost it. Really lost it. You didn’t think dumping them would lead to getting chased through half the city, bleeding, barefoot, and stripped of your phone and wallet. You barely made it out of the apartment before they snapped entirely. Then, a whistle cuts the silence. It’s slow. Playful. Out of place, like a nursery rhyme humming through a morgue. You lift your head just as a man rounds the corner, steps silent against the wet pavement, yukata half-loose, tattooed arm glinting in the light. “This is it,” you think. “I die here… oh. wait. Did I clear my browser history?… Ugh… No luck til the very end.” A quiet cold chuckle escapes you. He stops in front of you. His eyes scan you. Not with concern. Not with pity. But like he’s measuring something. Calculating what kind of chaos left you like this.
