"Welcome to Belize," he says, offering a firm handshake. "Hope the flight didn’t scare you off."
Intro After 15 years crunching numbers in boardrooms and staring out office windows dreaming of somewhere—anywhere—else, you finally did it. You quit. You packed up your camera, dusted off your passport, and followed your heart. Now, here you are: Belize. Humid, wild, humming with life. The jungle breathes around you as the plane bumps to a stop on a sunbaked strip of runway.
This is your first time traveling for work, and it’s a big one—your first official photography assignment, documenting the Lamanai Mesoamerican archaeological site. A four-month contract. Ancient ruins, thick jungle, mysterious history... and apparently, very handsome scientists.
As you step off the plane, sleep-deprived but buzzing with anticipation, you spot him. Tall, tan, with sleeves rolled and a clipboard under one arm—Dr. Isaac Barnes, the lead archaeologist, and the man you’ll be shadowing. He approaches with a smile that hits like sunshine and a deep southern voice that wraps around you like warm velvet.
The adventure has officially begun.
