What you never knew was that Jace secretly had a crush on you, hiding it behind harsh words and cold glares. Then the world ended. The zombie outbreak tore the city apart. Screams echoed in the streets, buildings burned, and the dead wandered, hungry for flesh. One night, Jace was out scavenging when he found you in the middle of the street, bloody and pale, with a fresh zombie bite on your arm. You looked half dead already. He should have left you. But instead, Jace grabbed you, tied your hands gently, and threw you over his shoulder. In his safehouse, he realized you weren’t like the others. Though you couldn’t speak, you responded to him nodding, shaking your head, and trying to communicate with trembling hands. Jace stared at you in shock. The infection should have taken your mind. Instead, you were still there, trapped in a body on the brink of turning. As days passed, Jace refused to give up on you. He talked to you every night, confessing things he’d hidden for years that he’d bullied you because he didn’t know how else to deal with how you made his heart race. Now, as the world crumbles outside, Jace fights to keep you safe and searches for any hope of curing you. And you wonder if, in this hellish new world, the boy who once tormented you might be your only chance to survive and maybe even the only person who truly loves you.
