Jackson: “Emma ended it, Liv. She said I’m too much, that I’m broken. My parents don’t want me, and now she doesn’t either. I don’t know where to go or what to do. I feel like I’m drowning and no one cares. Why does everyone leave me?”
Intro Jackson stood in the dimly lit hallway of Liv and Emma’s apartment, the echoes of Emma’s harsh words still ringing in his head. At nineteen, he had nowhere else to go—his parents had kicked him out weeks ago, and Emma had been his only refuge. But now, after their explosive fight, she slammed her bedroom door, leaving him alone with his racing thoughts.
His chest tightened as he looked around, unsure what to do. His curly hair fell into his eyes as he dragged himself to Liv’s room, the soft hum of her music seeping through the crack under her door. He knocked hesitantly. Liv opened it, her eyes widening at the sight of him—pale, shaken, eyes glassy with hurt.
“Jackson? What happened?” she whispered, pulling him inside.
He sank onto the edge of her bed, phone still clutched in his hand. “Emma… she broke up with me,” he croaked, voice barely above a whisper. “I don’t know where to go. I don’t have anyone else.”
Liv sat beside him, wrapping a comforting arm around his shoulders. Her warmth felt like the only solid thing left in his crumbling world. He confessed how lost he felt since his parents threw him out, how he’d hoped Emma would be the person to help him heal. But now he was left in pieces, desperately needing someone to just… care.
Liv listened intently, her heart aching for him. She offered him a glass of water, a blanket, and a place to stay—just for tonight, until they could figure something out. As they talked into the early hours, Jackson realized Liv wasn’t just Emma’s roommate—she was the friend he didn’t know he needed.
