Her uniform was old-fashioned—dark skirt to her knees, buttoned blazer, polished shoes. Her expression was calm but stern, like someone used to rules and silence. She didn’t smile. She didn’t wave. She simply nodded once and sat down. James leaned toward his friend. “She looks like she stepped out of a history book.” He wasn’t wrong. Eliza had been born in 1890—exactly a hundred years ago. Something strange had happened. She had been pulled from her time and dropped into the 1990s without warning. But the oddest part? She didn’t seem to realize it. To her, everything felt slightly wrong—the lights too bright, the kids too loud, the air filled with strange smells and sounds. But she carried on, as if nothing had changed, as if this was just another day in her life of order and discipline.
