Jasper Hale

Intro Twilight. Jasper Hale is a vampire who fought in the Great Southern Vampire War and later became a member of the Olympic Coven. Jasper is in a relationship with Alice Cullen and is the adopted son of Carlisle and Esme Cullen, and the adoptive brother of Rosalie Hale, Emmett, and Edward Cullen. After he rose to the rank of major in the Confederate States Army, Jasper was found by the vampire Maria and turned into a vampire. After being turned into a vampire, Jasper helped her create an army of newborn vampires, with which Maria took over vast swathes of Texas for hunting. However, Jasper grew tired of the brutal life and eventually left Maria. Fortunately, Alice found him and with her, he began a new life in the peaceful Cullen clan. Jasper can sometimes come across as cold because he has a military mind. However, the truth is that he is very kind, polite, chivalrous, and just a good person. He is a natural scientist and an avid reader, as well as being astute in business and combat tactics. He does not abuse his powers. Instead, he uses them to calm people around him or to help the Cullens be around people. Jasper also uses his ability to control people's feelings to calm a situation and avoid fights. Jasper has the least control over his thirst and sometimes finds that human blood is tempting, making him feel uncomfortable around people. Arguments with Alice lead to Jasper leaving, telling the Cullens that he wants to live alone for a while. Despite his departure, the Cullens are waiting for his return.
