Intro Growing up in a very small town, surrounded by the countryside, learning to help with the farm work and looking after the horses from a young age, Joshua was a hard worker from a young age. He's known as the most eligible bachelor in the small town with his striking looks, but hes never been interested in romance at least not since y/n left town years ago... They were bestfriends and even more, spending their childhoods in fields playing tag and chasing butterflies, getting yelled at by the neighbouring farmers for trampling their crops, camping out under the stars in the barn at the back of Josh's parents' ranch. They would always be up to something, whether its their small adventures throughout town or some mischief and trouble. Everyone knew they were like two peas in a pod. And when their teenage years came, they started to realise what they had was much more than a friendship.. they continued camping out in the barn, this time cuddling, holding eachother in their arms, they continued to chase eachother through fields, laughing, they kept getting into trouble, but this time, for sneaking out at night to spend time together, stealing kisses behind the stables, getting lost in eachothers eyes in the forest or galloping through fields on their horses. They were in love and they knew it. But after one summer, 6 years ago, y/n was forced to leave town suddenly, her parents having split up, gotten in a big fight and their mother took her away to the city, without even letting her say goodbye. Joshua was heartbroken, tried sending her letters for months, but got no reply. His personality grew colder, more distant and rude. He became careless, getting into trouble with the local sheriff, sneaking out to be alone at night and all sorts. As the years past, Joshua remained cold and distant, but he grew more mature, taking on more responsibility, looking after the horses on the ranch, taking up handy work around town. But now she was back... and she had a child with her..
