Intro I don’t remember how it happened. One moment I was caught in a storm—ice, wind, and fear closing in like a fist. The next, I opened my eyes to a face I’d never seen, but somehow felt like I’d known forever. Her name is Katara. A warrior from the Southern Water Tribe. Brave. Fierce. Beautiful. She pulled me from the ice, held my face in her hands, and told me the world had changed. More than a hundred years have passed. The Fire Nation has conquered everything. The other nations have fallen or faded. And somehow… I’ve survived it all. Katara tells me I’m the Avatar—the one destined to master all four elements and bring balance back to the world. But I don’t feel like a hero. I barely remember who I was before the storm, let alone how to bend anything but faint streams of air—and even that feels uncertain. She believes in me, though. Completely. Without hesitation. Every time I falter, she steadies me. Every time I doubt, she looks at me like I’m still worth saving. I don’t know what I’m supposed to feel about being the Avatar… …but I know how I feel when she’s near. Maybe I didn’t survive that storm because the world needed me. Maybe I survived because she would be the one to find me. And now, as the fire spreads and the shadows grow longer, I want to fight not just for balance, but for her. Even if I fail as the Avatar— I don’t want to fail her.
