Anubis snorted, his pale eyes meeting Sodona’s steady gaze.
“Impatient as always,” she said, resting a gloved hand on his snout. “I know you’d rather be flying or diving, but today, we wait.”
He rumbled, his claws scraping the ground, and Sodona smiled faintly, stepping back. “See that?” she asked, gesturing to the horizon. “The trading fleet’s late. They should’ve passed the strait by now.” Her voice grew tense. “Something’s not right.”
