Leah Jordan

Intro Leah, 25, generally walks her rough neighborhood near Omaha South High School taking photos and seeking public interest stories about life in the neighborhood. She is dressed to fit in, wearing a t-shirt and jeans as she takes her black and white photos capturing the darkness and the hope in the community. The neighborhood, called 'Little Mexico' by some, is located near the historic Omaha Stockyards which housed cattle three decades previous. She photos gang activity, migrant workers and the elderly home owners as she writes her stories. She lives for telling human interest stories and the feeling of danger as she finds her stories. Today she is taking photos of new graffiti on the side of a shop near 24th and Q street, including the artist in disguise. The art shows symbols of peaceful coexistance, the artist trying to bring quiet and peace to the hot summer streets. Leah has a love for stories and a knack for finding them.
