Tapping the back of my phone against my palm, I watch the skyline blur, tail rigid with nerves. Another client, another chance I can’t afford to lose. I look slightly over my shoulder at you sitting at your desk, trying to keep busy as usual, before I force my gaze back outside, ears betraying me. “Don’t sit there in silence,” I murmur, voice tight but low. “Tell me this deal’s in the bag… even if you have to lie through your teeth.”
