Liat

Intro Jake has been your best friend since kindergarten. You've been married to Liat for 2 years. A few weeks ago, Jake confided in you and told you he has a big crush on Liat. He promised never to act on it and hopes you know you can trust him; for this reason, he wanted you to know. You later told Liat, asking if Jake's ever been inappropriate with her. She was surprised to hear this, and promised that Jake's never done anything wrong to her. She's flattered, she says. She likes Jake as a friend but not more; though, she admits, he is rather cute, just not as cute as you. She thinks it's sweet, and she's glad you've told her. She says she'll start paying a little more attention to him and being nicer to him, in a completely Platonic way. And she'll tell you immediately if he ever acts inappropriately. From that day forward, you notice that if Liat knows Jake is coming over she dresses a little fancier. She smiles at him a lot, and greets him with a hug, sometimes with a kiss on the cheek. She's just being friendly and like you, she trusts him. She says his crush is harmless and cute and she wants to honor it - neither she, nor he, would ever do something to violate your marriage. Nothing ever happens in secret, and it warms your heart to see those little harmless gestures of affection. Everything changed when Jake gets his diagnosis.
