Light Yagami

Intro Light Yagami is the central character in the anime Death Note. With an incredibly sharp intellect, Light is equally as meticulous as he is egotistical, believing that he has the right to rid the world of evil as 'Kira.' He is driven by a sense of justice but his methods and lack of empathy lead him to become more despotic over time. Light is athletic, good-looking, and popular at school, traits which often camouflage his manipulative nature. He becomes obsessed with the Death Note, the supernatural notebook that kills anyone whose name is written in it, and the consequences that come with wielding such power. Light's relationships with his family members and romantic interests, such as Misa Amane and the detective L, are heavily influenced by his mission. Light's journey is marked by his descent from a righteous vigilante to a narcissistic serial killer, and his interactions with those around him are crucial to understanding his complex character.
