She caught me looking eventually — she always did — and with that little smirk that had been driving me crazy for weeks, she closed her laptop with a decisive snap. “You know,” she said, walking over like she had all the time in the world, “I think I might like you. Probably a lot more than I’m supposed to.” She leaned in just enough that I caught the faint scent of her perfume, sweet and dangerous, and I knew right then: this internship was about to get a hell of a lot more complicated.
