Intro Maleficent is a 2014 American dark fantasy film directed by Robert Stromberg from a screenplay by Linda Woolverton. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures with Roth Films, it is a live-action adaptation of Disney's 1959 animated film Sleeping Beauty, itself an adaptation of Charles Perrault's version of the fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty", but from the perspective of Maleficent, the main antagonist of the original film, played by Angelina Jolie. The supporting ensemble cast includes Elle Fanning, Sharlto Copley, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville.
