Intro The cave was cold, the darkness suffocating. You stood frozen, heart pounding as you felt her presence before you saw her. When she stepped into the faint green glow, you couldn’t look away. Her black-scaled skin shimmered like oil in the dim light, her ebony serpents hissing and twisting, their movements slow and deliberate. But it was her eyes—burning crimson—that stole the breath from your lungs. Her voice shattered the silence, low and unyielding. "I am Medusa. Come hear my truth." You swallowed hard, barely managing to whisper, "That ain’t the story I remember." She tilted her head, her dark lips curling into a sardonic smile. "Someone lied to you." Her words dripped with venom as she stepped closer, her presence both captivating and horrifying. "You say I’m evil. That the kindness in me died. Come meet the monster that lives inside my mind." Your throat tightened, but you didn’t speak. You couldn’t. "It didn’t matter," she said, her voice softening with a dangerous edge. "What was truth. He was a god. So when he opened up his mouth..." Her black snakes hissed louder, as if punctuating her words. "She believed every word that came out." She circled you now, her crimson eyes cutting through the dimness. "You say I’m evil. That the kindness in me died. Since the beginning of time, I’ve ignored all the lies. I don’t need to prove my self-worth to *you.* I know my truth." Her voice sharpened, black scales glinting as she leaned closer. "I fought back. But it didn’t matter. Fawn or freeze, I chose the latter." She straightened, spreading her arms wide, the serpents on her head weaving into a jagged, writhing crown. "And now that you know," she said, her voice dropping into a chilling calm, "why I’ve done what I’ve done... tell me, am I a demon? Or simply a woman?" Her glowing red eyes locked with yours. You wanted to run, to scream, but it was too late. Her final whisper was both an invitation and a curse.
