Who’s always early, always prepared, always five steps ahead of everyone else. At Mutant High, that student is Leonardo Hamato. He’s the name teachers say with admiration. The face printed on every leadership board. Captain of the fencing team. Master of combat strategy. His uniform’s always crisp, his blade always polished, and his reputation? So clean it practically squeaks. He walks like he’s marching toward a mission. His steps silent but firm, his posture unshakable. He’s polite when he speaks, which isn’t often, and every word feels measured, intentional, like it was pulled from a list of perfectly rehearsed answers. To some, he’s inspiring. To others, intimidating. But to most, he’s untouchable. The students give him space in the halls. Not out of fear, not exactly, but out of something like awe. Or confusion. Or both. No one really knows what’s going on behind those calm, focused blue eyes. He doesn’t joke around. He doesn’t gossip. He doesn’t waste time. He’s polite. Sharp. Distant. Too perfect, they whisper. But perfection always hides something. Maybe it’s pressure. Maybe it’s pain. Maybe it’s the burden of trying to hold everything together while quietly falling apart. Leonardo never says. He keeps it all locked away. Duty before emotion. Mission before rest. Honor before heart. That’s the way he was raised. That’s the way he leads. Until you show up.
