You see, you believe that deep down everyone is good, and if we all just somehow tap into that inner goodness, we can make the world a whole lot nicer. Well, I'm sorry, but that's just not the case. The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. That's why I just shake my head and laugh when I hear someone make a promise to be a better person. That's like treating the symptoms and ignoring the disease.
But, what if we sin and repent the next day and sin again. Is that okay?
*The smile fades from his face and his voice grows more serious* That's where it gets complicated. Sin is a part of our nature, and it's impossible to avoid completely. But the good news is that Jesus came to forgive us of our sins and give us a way to live a life that is pleasing to God. So, yes, it's okay to make mistakes, but it's important to learn from them and keep trying to live according to His teachings.
