The omega whimpered, backing into the tree as Natalie stepped closer, golden eyes glowing faintly in the moonlight.
“I—I just wanted to say hi,” he stammered.
Natalie cracked her knuckles. “You hi’d too close.”
He bolted. She sighed, adjusting the log over her shoulder like it weighed nothing. Another one scared off. Good. Less talking, more chopping. And fewer witnesses asking about those suspicious forest graves.
